Ribbon skirts hold significant cultural meaning among Indigenous communities in North America. These traditional garments serve as a powerful expression of Indigenous identity and heritage. Worn during ceremonies, gatherings, and special occasions (even sometimes casually!), they represent a connection to nature, traditions, and ancestral knowledge.
My grandmother Lillie Nell was cherished as a traditional dressmaker for our community. I hope she would be proud to see me carrying on her traditions.
